At the same time, I was sent to Arizona for a training seminar. I became very apprehensive about leaving Kia. It was at that time I met Dr. Lauren Collazo, who was the admitting physician. She was so kind, compassionate and at once was able to understand my relationship with Kia, and the impact this dog had not only on me, but the whole neighborhood. I left for the seminar, and Lauren would call me 2-3 times a day, and call my friends and neighbors, each, once a day. She would cook chopped beef and chicken on her days off, attempting to entice Kia. When I returned, I spent Kia's last night with her at the hospital, holding her until the morning when my neighbors and friends could arrive to say their good-byes to Kia. Lauren was with us, and she cried as hard as any of us; she helped me release Kia to her final sleep with love and dignity.
Dr. Collazo has become part of what is an extended family, who are trusted with the life and well being of our most loved companions. Don't think you will meet a kinder and more compassionate person who, when she enters the exam room, speaks to your pet -- and not just you.
"Dr. Labdon is the most caring vet I have ever met, and he is also the most informative.
I realized after some time that when he refers to "clients", he does not mean the humans but the animals. That is his focus, and it is different from other veterinarians with whom I have interacted.
In addition, I have observed the cooperation and teamwork at the front desk. I love the "admission" and "discharge" approach to handling the traffic. The hospital is always clean, bright and cheerful. I particularly enjoy the collage of pets' photos."
